Investigators from the Metropolitan Robbery Unit’s Strike Force Crommelin, have arrested a young person following an armed robbery at a grocery store in Wiley Park last month.

About 7.30pm on Thursday 4 August 2016, six males, four with their faces covered – one armed with a knife – entered a grocery store on Denham Road, Wiley Park.

Three of the men allegedly assaulted two staff members, before the group stole cash from the register, cigarettes, and other items, before they fled.

Officers from the Metropolitan Robbery Unit established Strike Force Crommelin to investigate the robbery.

About 3:30pm yesterday (Tuesday 11 October 2016), police arrested a 16-year-old boy on the Hume Highway in Yagoona.

The boy was taken to Bankstown Police Station where he was charged with robbery whilst armed with an offensive weapon.

He was bail refused to appear before a children’s court today (Wednesday 12 October 2016)
