Police are investigating an armed robbery that occurred tonight at Ayr.
Initial information suggests around 8.30pm, a man wearing a balaclava entered a takeaway store on Queen Street armed with a knife.
The man approached the counter and threatened a female staff member before demanding cash.
The employee ran to the rear of the store.
The offender has entered the counter area and stole an amount of money from the cash register before fleeing the store.
He was last seen leaving in a vehicle that travelled east along Graham Street.
No one was physically injured as a result of the robbery.
Investigations are continuing.
