A man and woman have been arrested following an armed robbery at a restaurant in the Central Hunter last night.

Just before 8pm (Wednesday 19 October 2016), a man entered a restaurant on Lang Street, Kurri Kurri.

Police have been told the man allegedly produced a pistol and threaten a staff member.

The staff member gave the man a sum of money before he left the location in a car driven by a woman.

Officers from Central Hunter Local Area Command were contacted and commenced an investigation.

As a result of inquiries, police arrested a 21-year-old man and a 28-year-old woman after stopping a car on First Street, Weston.

A crime scene warrant was executed upon a property at Fourth Street, Weston.

The pair was taken to Maitland Police Station where they were both charged with armed robbery.

The man and woman were both refused bail to appear Maitland Local Court today (Thursday 20 October 2016).
