Detectives investigating a series of armed robberies on Brisbane’s northside over the past month yesterday arrested a 34-year-old man at a Hendra address.
He was taken into custody and charged in relation to two alleged robbery offences that occurred at Wavell Heights on December 17.
Police will allege a man attempted to rob a Shaw Road bakery around 5.30am. The man, brandishing a large knife, threatened two male employees and demanded money. He fled empty handed after they refused to hand over any cash and grabbed a rolling pin to protect themselves.
Around 5.55am police will allege the same man entered a Rode Road bakery and threatened staff with a large knife before stealing cash and fleeing.
No one was physically injured during the robberies.
A 34-year-old Hendra man is due to appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court today where he faces one count each of attempted robbery threatening violence and armed robbery.
Detectives continue to investigate a number of serious incidents, including armed robbery, stealing and unlawful use of motor vehicle offences, with additional charges possible.
