17 March 2017 – Armed Robbery – Bottle Shop – Garbutt

A Garbutt bottle shop was robbed earlier this evening after a man poured liquid onto the counter before threatening staff and stealing cash (Friday, March 17, 2017).
Around 8.20pm the man entered the Ingham Road business and poured what was believed to be a flammable liquid onto the counter, he then threatened staff before going behind the counter, opening the cash register and stealing a sum of money.
The man – who was wearing dark clothing – fled the store and ran to a vehicle parked near a hotel on Ingham Road.
No one was physically injured and police investigations are continuing.
