Police have appealed for witnesses to come forward after a service station employee was held up by a man armed with a syringe at Coogee this morning.
Shortly after 5am today (Saturday 23 September 2017), emergency services were called to a service station on Coogee Bay Road after reports of a robbery and possible stabbing.
Officers from Eastern Beaches Local Area Command attended and determined that although there had been a robbery no one had been injured during the incident.
Police have been told that about 5am a male entered the service station carrying what appeared to be a syringe and threatened the male employee.
The offender escaped with a quantity of cash and was last seen running along Coogee Bay Road and into Mount Street.
The male has been described to police as being of Caucasian appearance, 178cm tall and with a slim build.
He was wearing a white hooded jumper, blue jeans and carried a syringe.
Police have urged anyone with information about the incident to contact police immediately.
