Police have appealed to the community for information following the armed robbery of a business at Rockdale this morning.

Shortly before 4.30am today (Thursday 26 October 2017), two males entered a licensed premises on the Princes Highway.

The men, armed with handguns, demanded cash from an employee.

The offenders fled with a quantity of cash and were believed to have headed in a westerly direction towards the railway station.

Two employees at the premises were not injured.

Police from St George Local Area Command attended the location and established a crime scene. Officers searched the area and nearby train stations without success.

The first male is described as 175cm tall with a solid build, dark clothing and with his head covered by a balaclava.

The second male is described as 183cm tall with a solid build, dark clothing and a balaclava.

Investigators have urged anyone with information about suspicious or unusual behaviour in the area to contact police at St George or Crime Stoppers immediately.
