Police at Werribee arrested five men following an armed robbery at a convenience store in Hoppers Crossing early this morning.

Police have been told four males entered a convenience store on Morris Road allegedly armed with a machete and sword just before 1.30am.

It is believed they stole cash and cigarettes before fleeing the scene in a waiting car.

Police arrested five males in a car on Dickson Street just after 2.30am.

The males aged in their teens and early 20s are currently in custody.
