Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding an armed robbery in Newtown last night.

About 11pm (Thursday 15 February 2018), a man entered a service station on Enmore Road, armed with a knife and imitation pistol.

He approached the counter where he threatened the 23-year-old employee demanding cash.

The employee complied and handed over an amount of cash from the till.

The man left the store and was running south along Enmore Road. He was last seen running into Station Street.

Police from Inner West Police Area Command attended and established a crime scene.

The man has been described as medium build, wearing a fluorescent yellow/blue coloured jacket, dark

coloured shorts, black baseball cap, white runners and a white shirt tied around his face.

The employee was not injured during the incident and police are now seeking anyone who may have information that could assist.
