Investigators from Mitchell Crime Investigation Unit arrested two men and a woman after an assault at a hotel in Longwood on July 19.

It’s believed the alleged incident happened at about 6.15 pm at the White Hart Hotel. A 54-year-old man from Longwood suffered serious facial injuries as a result of the assault. He was transported by ambulance to Goulburn Valley Hospital in Shepparton and he was transferred to the Alfred Hospital the following day to undergo surgery.

On Wednesday July 20 investigators from Mitchell CIU, together with police from Euroa, Seymour and Nagambie, arrested a 38-year-old woman and 54-year-old man from Longwood and a 26-year-old man from Wallan at a Longwood address and were subsequently interviewed over the incident.

The 26-year-old man from Wallan was charged with recklessly causing serious injury and other assault related offences. He was released on bail to appear at the Seymour Magistrates’ Court on September 15.

The woman and 54-year-old man were released pending further enquiries.

Detectives are also continuing to investigate any link between the assault and an alleged theft that occurred on the same afternoon at the Euroa Hotel, Euroa.

At about 3.00 pm a ‘Royal Children’s Hospital Good Friday Appeal’ donation collection bottle was allegedly stolen from the main bar area of the Euroa Hotel in Euroa. It is not known how much cash was in the donation bottle.
