Detectives from the South Eastern Region’s Serious and Violent Crime Squad have charged a 63-year-old man in relation to three armed robberies involving a firearm on the Gold Coast late 2011 and early 2012.

The charges relate to the alleged armed robbery of the 711 store and BWS stores at Labrador on December 8, 2011 and the alleged armed robbery of the same BWS store at Labrador again on February 8, 2012.

During one of the robberies a firearm was discharged.

A search of the man’s residence allegedly uncovered a cache of weapons including rifles, a shotgun and silencer.

The man from Parkwood on the Gold Coast has been charged with three armed robberies and weapon offences.

He is expected to face the Southport Magistrates Court today April 27, 2012.
