Police officers from Lake Illawarra Local Area Command are investigating the circumstances surrounding a robbery in Oak Flats yesterday (Tuesday 15 May 2012).
About 7pm, a man walked into a service station on Old Lake Entrance Road and grabbed the only employee working at the time – a 50-year-old woman.
The man then pushed the woman to the ground, before making his way behind the counter to the cash register.
He smashed the cash register open, removed an amount of money and then left the premises.
The employee rang police, who arrived a short time later. A canvass of the scene was conducted, however officers were unable to locate the man.
Police would now like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the incident or the circumstances surrounding it.
The man police are looking for is described as being 180-185cm tall, with a thin build, and having an olive complexion.
At the time of the incident, he was wearing light grey track pants, a blue hooded jumper with a white emblem on the front, black gloves, and black and red Adidas shoes. He was also seen to be carrying a blue Puma bag.
