Police are investigating the armed robbery of a sports club at Drummoyne overnight.

About 9.30pm (Wednesday 30 May 2012), two men entered the club on Hythe Street with their faces concealed and armed with a machete and handgun.

The armed men threatened staff and patrons while demanding money from the safe and register.

They fled the club on foot with a sum of cash.

Police were notified and officers attached to Burwood Local Area Command attended and established a crime scene which is being forensically examined by specialist officers.

A canvass of the area is being conducted with assistance from the Dog Unit, however police have not been able to locate the two men.

Police have not been given a description of the men, only that both were wearing dark clothing and hooded jumpers.
