Police from Liverpool Local Area Command are appealing for witnesses to a robbery in south-west Sydney today (Tuesday 29 May 2012).

About 6.30am two armed males entered a Lurnea newsagent on Hill Road demanding cash from the owner. One man was holding a large kitchen knife, the other a meat cleaver.

A third man waited outside while the robbery took place.

The trio left the scene in a red Ford Laser with a sum of cash and packs of cigarettes. The Laser had earlier been reported stolen.

Police were called and an investigation into the incident commenced. They canvassed the surrounding suburbs and the stolen Ford Laser was found burnt out in Box Road, Prestons.

At the time of the robbery, all three males were wearing balaclavas and hooded jumpers.
