Limestone Coast police are seeking information from the Mt Gambier Community following a service station robbery overnight.

Just after midnight, a man wearing a balaclava and carrying a wooden axe handle, walked into the Shell Service Station on the Penola Road and handed the console operator a note demanding money.

There were no injuries and he fled with a small amount of cash.

A search by Mt Gambier patrols failed to find the suspect described as about 178cm, slim build, wearing a black hooded top and blue jeans
