Police from Lake Illawarra Local Area Command are investigating the circumstances surrounding an armed robbery that occurred in Warrawong yesterday.

About 1.25pm (Monday, June 11, 2012) a man described as 170cm tall, with a medium build, and wearing a blue ‘hoodie’ with a black T-shirt over the top, entered the Cowper Street convenience store.

He approached the counter with his hoodie pulled over his head and produced a knife.

He threatened the 27-year-old console operator and demanded cash from the till.

The operator handed over the cash and the man ran from the store.

Police were called and a crime scene was established.

Detectives are reviewing CCTV vision and forensic police will examine the scene.
