Detectives from the Major and Organised Crime Squad based on the Gold Coast have this morning charged a man in relation to the robbery of three banking institutions in the South Eastern Police Region in January this year.

The robberies occurred at Burleigh Heads on January 17 followed by two offences the next day on January 18 at Oxenford and Rochedale South.

During the incidents it is alleged two men entered the banks and made demands for money while claiming to be armed with a firearm.

A 20-year-old man from Nerang has been charged with two counts of robbery and one count of attempted robbery.

He is expected to appear before the Southport Magistrates Court tomorrow.

Investigations are continuing.
