Police are investigating the armed robbery of a sports club at Coolangatta in the early hours of this morning.

Around 4.15am, two men armed with firearms entered the Appel Street business and forced two male employees to lie on the ground.

The offenders took a sum of money before fleeing on foot.

The first man is described as being of Caucasian appearance, 180cm tall and was wearing a long sleeve shirt, cargo pants and a bandana, all black in colour.

The second man is described as being of Pacific Islander appearance, shorter than the first man, of stocky build and was also wearing black clothing and a bandana.

Both employees, aged 18 and 28, sustained minor injuries that did not require medical attention.

Investigations are continuing.
