Police have charged a 19-year-old man with attempted robbery and assault following an incident at a bottle shop at Booval last night.

It will be alleged around 8.30pm a man entered the Brisbane Road bottle shop before attempting to steal bottles of liquor when he was approached by two female employees.

The man allegedly became violent and pushed the attendants before dropping the glass bottles on the ground causing them to smash.

He then allegedly pushed one of the workers over, a 49-year-old woman, causing her to fall onto the broken glass.

The woman received treatment at hospital after sustaining a laceration.

It will further be alleged the man also threatened a male employee with a broken glass bottle.

The 19-year-old Riverview man was charged with attempted robbery using personal violence and two counts of common assault.

He will appear in the Ipswich Magistrates Court today.
