Police are appealing for public assistance after the armed robbery of a hotel in Sydenham yesterday.
About 8am (Tuesday 1 January 2013), up to five men entered the hotel on Swain Street and threatened a 27-year-old female staff member who was counting the previous night’s takings.
The woman has told police that at least one of the men had a pistol.
After forcing the woman to open the hotel’s ATMs and safes, the offenders then bound the woman and left her in a room within the premises.
The men escaped the premises with an amount of cash.
Officers from Newtown Local Area Command attended a short time later and established a crime scene that was examined by specialist forensic officers.
Ambulance Paramedics treated the victim at the scene for minor bruising.
Detectives now wish to speak with a number of men who they believe may be able to assist with their inquiries.
