An investigation is underway following the armed robbery of a hotel in Sydney’s Bondi Beach overnight.
Just after 2am (Monday 28 January 2013), two men entered the Campbell Parade hotel with their faces concealed and armed with a firearm.
The pair threatened the hotel’s manager with the weapon, demanding he open the safe.
A security officer attempted to intervene; however, both he and the manager were again threatened with the firearm.
The armed men fled with a large sum of cash and were last seen running down Gould Street where they are believed to have gotten into a vehicle.
Police were alerted and officers from Eastern Suburbs Local Area Command attended and established a crime scene which is being examined by specialist forensic officers.
A search of the area was conducted with assistance from the Dog Unit.
Detectives have commenced inquiries into the incident and are attempting to identify and locate those involved.
Both men are believed to be of Pacific Islander / Maori appearance
