A man has been charged today following investigations into a number of armed robberies in Sydney’s west.

Shortly after 8pm on Monday 28 January 2013, it is alleged the man entered a restaurant on Campbell Street, Northmead, armed with a meat cleaver.
He threatened staff and customers before fleeing the premises with cash from the restaurant and personal property from the customers.
Police will also allege that about 10:30pm on Tuesday 29 January, he threatened a man at a unit block on Harrow Road, Auburn, before fleeing with the man’s wallet.

No-one was injured during either incident.

Police from Flemington Local Area Command executed a search warrant at a home in Auburn this morning (Friday 1 February), where they arrested a 27-year-old man.

He was taken to Auburn Police Station where he was charged with the following offences:

  • Robbery whilst armed (six counts)
  • Disqualified driver
  • Negligent driving
  • Not exchange particulars
  • Resist arrest
  • Assault police

He appeared before Burwood Local Court today where he was remanded in custody to reappear on Monday 4 February
