A man has been charged after he allegedly robbed three shops at knife point at Hurstville and Allawah earlier this week.
Strike Force Boothey, consisting of investigators from the Metropolitan Robbery Unit, was established on Tuesday 12 February, 2013, to investigate three armed robberies within Hurstville Local Area Command.
Shortly before 7.20pm on Monday 11 February 2013, a man allegedly walked into a supermarket on Railway Parade, Allawah.
Police will allege he the approached the counter and threatened the 57-year-old male cashier with a knife.
The cashier also produced a knife resulting in the man running from the store empty handed.
About 7.30pm on Monday 11 February, 2013, a man, armed with a knife, allegedly entered a mixed business store on Hillcrest Avenue, Hurstville Grove, and threatened a 49-year-old man working behind the counter.
He demanded cash from the assistant who complied, before fleeing the store.
About 7.45pm on Tuesday 12 February 2013, a man entered a grocery store on Croydon Road, Hurstville, armed with a knife.
He allegedly threatened the 47-year-old female employee and demanded cash.
The man fled the premises with cash and cigarettes.
Shortly after 1.30pm today (Thursday 15 February 2013), police arrested a 30-year-old man outside a house on Harslett Crescent, Beverly Park.
He was taken to St George Police Station where he was charged with three counts of armed robbery.
The man was refused bail to appear at Sutherland Local Court tomorrow (Friday 15 February 2013).
Police executed a search warrant and seized clothing and the weapon allegedly used during the armed robberies.
