South Australia Police today publish their second set of monthly state and Local Service Area (LSA) crime statistics.
Data was released for the first time last month and can now be accessed online by anyone who is interested – the wider community, media, Government and SAPOL staff. This initiative is part of SAPOL’s ongoing commitment to engage more with the community we serve.
An interactive map invites users to enter a post code, or click on their suburb or town. A link then takes users to the appropriate LSA data.

Today’s release of information shows that state-wide the total number of offences reported against people and property has fallen by 8 per cent in the past year to the end of January. This represents 9,207 fewer offences.
Key drivers of this overall reduction are a 10 per cent fall in common assaults (707 fewer offences); a 24 per cent drop in non-aggravated robbery (57 fewer offences); and an 11 per cent reduction in theft from motor vehicles (1,266 fewer offences).
SAPOL’s Stop Car Theft program has continued to achieve success in local communities, targeting motor vehicle offenders especially around major shopping centres.
In the past 12 months there has been a nine per cent reduction in Serious Criminal Trespass of non-residential properties. However, statistics for Serious Criminal Trespass residential show a rise of 10 per cent in January 2013 (82 offences) – although this is a two per cent rise when considering the data for the past year.
The SAPOL statistics have been compiled in compliance with nationally accepted and approved counting rules
