A man is facing court this afternoon (Monday 8 April 2013) after being arrested half an hour after allegedly stealing methadone and sedatives from a western Sydney pharmacy.

About 7.40am today, a man entered the pharmacy on Good Street at Granville and threatened staff with a knife.

He demanded methadone and pills and was given a quantity of prescription drugs before leaving the pharmacy.

About 8.10am police arrested a 39-year-old Harris Park man near his Alice Street unit block. The prescription drugs were recovered at the unit block.

He was taken to Granville Police Station and charged with robbery whilst armed with an offensive weapon.

The 39-year-old was refused bail and due to appear in Parramatta Local Court this afternoon.
