A man armed with a handgun stole cash from a Coolangatta convenience store last night.
Around 10.35pm the man entered the Douglas Street business and threatened a male employee before stealing cash.
The man fled on foot and was last seen running north along Douglas Street.
He is described as Caucasian, aged between 20 and 30, wearing a dark coloured hooded jumper, dark denim jeans and white sandshoes.
No one was physically injured and police investigations are continuing.
