A man is facing court today after being apprehended by the owner of a jewellery store during an attempted armed robbery in Mosman.
Shortly after 5pm, (Monday 15 April, 2013) a man entered the Military Road premises wearing a hooded jumper and brandishing a pistol.
He walked directly up to the owner and pointed the gun in his chest.
The owner, a 35-year-old man, immediately punched the man in the face causing him to run from the store.
The owner pursued the man and apprehended him outside the premises, and was assisted by another local store owner.
Police arrived and arrested the 19-year-old man. He was taken to North Sydney Police Station. He has since been charged with armed robbery with a dangerous weapon.
Bail was refused and he will appear in Central Local Court today.
While police from Harbourside Local Area Command are pleased with the outcome of this incident, they don’t advise this course of action when confronted with a weapon.
