A man will re-appear in court tomorrow after allegedly holding up an East Maitland pub at knifepoint.

It’s alleged about 12.50am on Thursday (18 April 2013) a 22-year-old man entered the hotel on Melbourne Street, East Maitland.

Staff members were still on the premises closing up, but the pub was closed.

Police will allege the man, who was wearing a balaclava, held a knife at a female employee’s back and demanded cash.

The man was given a sum of money and fled.

Officers from Central Hunter Local Area Command were notified and attended a short time later, launching an investigation into the incident.

On Friday (19 April 2013), police executed two search warrants at homes in East Maitland and Woodville.

Yesterday (Saturday 20 April 2013), a 22-year-old man was arrested at Maitland Police Station and charged with robbery armed with an offensive weapon.

He was refused bail and appeared before Maitland Local Court today where bail was not applied for. He will re-appear before Maitland Local Court tomorrow (Monday 22 April 2013).
