Detectives on the state’s mid-north coast are conducting inquiries after ram-raiders targeted a golf club at South Kempsey .
About 2.45am yesterday (Monday 22 April 2013), police from Mid North Coast Local Area Command responded to an intruder alarm at a golf club on the Pacific Highway at South Kempsey.
Upon arrival at the scene, officers discovered the front entry to the building had been rammed by a vehicle.
Intruders then used a crowbar and sledgehammer to remove coin boxes from the club’s poker machines and cause damage to the main bar area.
It’s believed they also stole the contents of a cash register and fled the scene before police arrived.
A crime scene was secured and checked by forensics specialists.
A stolen Toyota Landcruiser – believed to have been used in the ram raid – was found abandoned nearby. It’s been seized for scientific examination.
Local detectives are seeking public assistance as they continue their inquiries.
