Police are appealing for information after the armed robbery of a service station in West Wallsend yesterday. (Saturday 25 May 2013).

About 8:10pm three men travelling in a dark coloured utility entered the Withers Street service station and put fuel and water into the vehicle.

Two of the men entered the service station, one of whom threatened the console operator with a knife and demanded money from the cash register.

The male console operator handed over a sum of cash.

The men left the service station, and drove away in the utility, which was last seen travelling south in Withers Street, towards Edgeworth.

No one was injured during the robbery.

The first man was wearing a dark coloured jumper with an orange/red motif on the front with the hood over his head.

The second man was wearing a blue and grey jumper with the number ‘60’ displayed on the front, a hood over his head, holding a knife in his right hand and a bag in his left hand.

The third person stayed in the car and no description was provided.

Detectives from Lake Macquarie Local Area Command are continuing with investigations into this incident and would like to speak with anyone who may be able to offer information that could assist.
