Police from Fairfield Local Area Command are investigating an armed robbery that occurred at a service station in Smithfield overnight.

About 8.45pm yesterday (Sunday 26 May 2013), three unknown men entered the business on The Horsley Drive, Smithfield, and threatened two store employees.

Police have been told the men were armed with knives.

They allegedly stole an amount of cash and cigarettes before fleeing on foot.

Officers attended and established a crime scene which was examined by forensic specialists.

The men have all been described as wearing dark clothing and had their faces concealed.

Inquiries by detectives are continuing.
