Detectives from the Robbery and Serious Crime Squad and Canobolas Local Area Command have arrested two men and are seeking a third following investigations into an armed robbery in the state’s west last month.
Just after 7.30pm on Sunday 7 April 2013, a staff-member at a golf club on Ploughmans Lane, Orange, was closing up for the night when he was confronted by two men, one of whom was armed with a long-barrelled firearm.
The armed man allegedly forced the staff member to lie on the floor, before the pair stole an amount of cash from the club’s safe and escaped the premises.
Detectives have been investigating the incident under Strike Force Aldgate and today (Tuesday 28 May 2013) executed a number of search warrants on properties at Orange and also attended a property at Blayney.
Two men, aged 22 and 25, were arrested and charged with robbery while armed with a dangerous weapon.
A 21-year-old man was also arrested and charged with 38 counts of supply prohibited drug; two counts of ongoing supply of prohibited drug; two counts of supply drug implement; and one count of possess prohibited drug.
All are expected to appear at Orange Local Court this afternoon.
Meanwhile, detectives are still trying to locate another man who they also anticipate charging with the robbery. He is described as a 19-year-old man of Caucasian appearance, about 170cm tall with a thin build and short, blond hair. He has a tattoo of the name ‘Ella’ on the right side of his neck.
