Police have arrested and charged a man over a spate of armed robberies and break & enters across northern Sydney earlier in the year.

About 4:20pm on Thursday 24 January 2013, a man armed with a handgun allegedly robbed a video store on Longueville Road, Lane Cove, making off with cash.

Later that night (6:55pm), the same man allegedly attended a discount store on George Street, Sydney, where he threatened staff with a handgun and stole a small amount of cash.

Investigations subsequently led police to identify a 27-year-old man as allegedly being responsible for the robberies.

It will also be alleged between Monday 7 January and Wednesday 6 February 2013, the man broke into 11 business and residential premises, stealing

laptop computers and MP3 players.

These 11 premises include:

•           A house on Northcote Street, St Leonards (7 January 2013)

•           A pet store on Eastern Valley Way, Chatswood (13 January 2013)

•           A gym on Sydney Road, Seaforth (15 January 2013)

•           Eight businesses on Dale Street, Brookvale (6 February 2013)

About 11am today (Wednesday 29 May 2013), police arrested the man in Raymond Terrace and charged him with robbery while armed with a dangerous weapon (x2); break, enter and steal (x5); and break & enter with intent to steal (x6).

He was refused bail to appear in Central Local Court on Thursday 13 June 2013.

Detectives from North Shore and Harbourside Local Area Commands are continuing their investigations and further charges are expected to be laid.
