A man and woman have been arrested by police investigating an armed robbery at Orange earlier in the year.
The robbery occurred just after 7:30pm on Sunday 7 April 2013, when a staff-member at a golf club on Ploughmans Lane, Orange, was confronted by two men, one of whom was armed with a long-barrelled firearm.
The armed man allegedly forced the staff member to lie on the floor, before the pair stole an amount of cash from the club’s safe and escaped the premises.
Strike Force Aldgate, comprising detectives from the State Crime Command’s Robbery and Serious Crime Squad and Canobolas Local Area Command, was formed to investigate the robbery.
About 10:15pm last night (Friday 31 May 2013), police attempted to stop a black Holden Barina in Lords Place, Orange, however, the driver failed to stop and a pursuit was initiated.
The female driver stopped the car on Tynan Street with a 19-year-old man running from the vehicle. He was pursued on foot and arrested nearby.
The man was taken to Orange Police Station and charged with robbery whilst armed with a dangerous weapon.
He was refused bail and appeared in Orange Local Court today where he was remanded in custody to re-appear on Monday 3 June 2013.
A 21-year-old woman, who was allegedly driving the car involved in the pursuit, was also arrested. She was charged with police pursuit- not stop when directed and granted conditional bail to appear in Orange Local Court on Thursday 20 June 2013.
Six people have now been charged by Strike Force Aldgate with three men, aged 22, 24 and 25 and a 24-year-old woman already before the courts on robbery, hinder police and drug charges.
