A 39-year-old man will appear in court today (Thursday 6 June 2013) after being charged with 13 fraud offences totalling $4.5 million.

Investigators from the Fraud and Cybercrime Squad’s Strike Force McMaster arrested the man in Balmain yesterday (Wednesday 5 June 2013), before taking him to Redfern Police Station.

He was subsequently charged with nine counts of obtain money by deception and four counts of dishonestly obtain financial advantage by deception.

Officers will allege the man was operating under numerous false identities in order to deceive business equipment leasing companies, defrauding of them of approximately $4.5 million over a two year period between 2008 and 2010.

The man was refused bail and is scheduled to appear in Central Local Court today.

Strike Force McMaster, comprised of police officers from State Crime Command’s Fraud and Cybercrime Squad, is an ongoing investigation examining serious fraud offences allegedly linked to a number of people in NSW.
