NSW Police have arrested two men wanted by their interstate counter-parts for an armed robbery in Tasmania.
About 6pm (Friday 7 June), police from St George Local Area Command received information the two men could be in their area and were asked to keep a look out for them.
Arrest warrants had been issued for the pair in relation to the armed robbery of a hotel in Granton, Tasmania in May this year. There were associated warnings that they could be armed.
A description was circulated to officers across the St George area and around 9.30pm they were seen playing poker machines at a hotel on Rocky Point Road in Ramsgate.
Police from St George and Hurstville local area commands plus officers from the Police Transport Command and Public Order and Riot Squad went to the scene.
The hotel was cleared before police moved in and arrested the two men without incident. While neither man was armed, one was found with an amount of methamphetamine (ICE).
The men, aged 20 and 25, were taken to St George Police Station and charged over the outstanding warrants.
They were refused bail and will appear at Parramatta Local Court today.
Police from Tasmania will seek to extradite the two men over coming days.
