A man has had sutures inserted in a head wound after being glassed at a bar in Surry Hills this morning.

The 37-year-old man has told police he was attacked by two men at the bar in Oxford Street shortly before 12.30am today (Saturday 8 June 2013).

The man was struck from behind with a glass, causing a deep cut just above his right ear. The fight broke up and the injured man walked to St Vincent’s Hospital where he had sutures inserted in a deep laceration to the right side of his head.

Hospital staff alerted police who went to the bar and spoke with a number of witnesses. They hope to get a formal statement from the victim later today. He has been released from hospital.
