Police in Sydney’s east have commenced inquiries after a man was injured during a bag snatch at Maroubra overnight.

About 8.15pm (Tuesday 11 June 2013), a 30-year-old man was walking along Portland Crescent when he was approached from behind by a man on a motorised scooter.

The rider grabbed the man’s bag, causing him to fall to the ground and hit his head on the pavement.

Emergency services were alerted and the man was taken to St Vincent’s Hospital where he remains in a stable condition with non life-threatening injuries.

Detectives from Eastern Beaches Local Area Command are investigating the incident and appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

Investigators have not been given a description of the man; however, they’ve been told he was riding a dark-coloured motorised scooter.
