The third man arrested by Robbery and Serious Crime Squad detectives investigating armed robberies at Port Kembla and Werrington in April and May this year has now been charged.
The Robbery and Serious Crime Squad formed Strike Force Meriki to investigate the three robberies: a hotel at Port Kembla on Monday 29 April 2013; a hotel at Werrington on Sunday 5 May 2013; and the Port Kembla hotel again on Wednesday 22 May 2013.
One man was arrested and charged with two of the robberies last week and remains before the court.
Two other men were arrested at Sanctuary Point and Fairy Meadow this morning, with a 24-year-old Fairy Meadow man appearing at Wollongong Local Court earlier today.
This afternoon, the 31-year-old man from Sanctuary Point was charged with two counts of robbery whilst armed with a dangerous weapon, and one count of robbery in company cause wounding. The charges relate to the robberies on 29 April and 5 May.
He was refused bail to appear at Nowra Local Court today (Wednesday 19 June 2013).
Investigations are continuing.
