Police are appealing for public assistance as they continue to investigate an armed robbery where a significant amount of cash was stolen in Kings Park earlier this year.
A 49-year-old Sydenham woman was driving north on Kurung Drive on 3 February when she stopped at the intersection of Taylors Road around 3.30pm.
As she was waiting to turn right, a man has opened the rear door of her vehicle and entered the car.
He has grabbed the woman’s handbag and a struggle has ensued.
The man waved an object at her, which the victim believed to be some kind of weapon, and she let go of the bag.
The man then ran to a nearby silver or white VY Commodore Sedan, got in the vehicle and a second man has driven them away.
At the time, the woman’s handbag contained a significant amount of cash.
Detectives from Keilor Downs are investigating and believe someone in the community has information about the incident that can assist the investigation.
“It is clearly quite a traumatic incident for the victim to have someone enter her vehicle, threaten her then take off with her belongings,” DSC Branka Jurilj said.
“We believe there is someone in the community who knows who did this and we are appealing for that person to contact police.”
