Kensington Detectives have charged a woman in relation to an armed robbery in Cannington on Sunday afternoon, 7 July 2013.

About 4:35pm a woman entered a mobile phone store located at the Carousel Shopping Centre on Albany Highway Cannington.

It is alleged she pulled a pair of scissors from her handbag and cut an electronic cable securing a mobile phone to a display rack. The cutting of the cable activated an alarm within the store, alerting staff.

The woman cut a second mobile phone from the display before leaving the store and the shopping centre.

She was confronted by a security guard in the car park. The woman threatened the guard with the scissors before fleeing on foot.

Later that evening, police arrested the 19 year old Queens Park woman and charged her with Armed Robbery.

She is due to appear in the Perth Magistrates Court today, 8 July 2013.
