Police are appealing for public assistance following an armed robbery at a convenience store in Lakemba overnight.

About 10.45pm (Sunday 15 July 2013), three men entered the shop on Croydon Street, armed with an axe.

They threatened a 50-year-old male employee and took cash from the till before fleeing down Croydon Lane onto Haldon Street.

A crime scene was established and examined by the Forensic Armed Robbery Unity.

The men have been described as being of Mediterranean/Middle Eastern appearance, 20 years of age with a thin build. They were wearing dark coloured hooded jackets, dark coloured tracksuit pants and black gloves.
