Police are investigating an attempted armed robbery at a Virginia convenience store last night.

Police were called to the Toombul Road shop around 9.50pm following reports of a man who attempted to rob the store.

He entered the store armed with a knife and demanded cash from the attendant.

The attendant has run from the shop and the man has then left the scene in a vehicle.

No one was physically injured and no property or cash was taken during the incident.

The man is described as being Caucasian in appearance, around 160cm tall with a thin build and was wearing dark clothing and had his face covered at the time.

Police investigations are continuing.
