Police have charged a man over an alleged glassing at a hotel in Lambton overnight.

About 10pm, Friday 2 August 2013, a 47-year-old man was at a hotel on Morehead Street when he became involved in a fight with another man.

During the incident he was allegedly struck in the face with a schooner glass sustaining a deep laceration to his cheek.

Hotel staff intervened in the incident and contacted police who attended a short time later. The injured man later received treatment at the John Hunter Hospital.

A 34-year-old man left the hotel and was chased by police before being arrested and taken to Waratah Police Station.

He was charged with wound with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and an outstanding warrant for an unrelated domestic violence incident.

The man was refused bail and appeared in Newcastle Local Court today (Saturday 3 August 2013) where he was remanded in custody to re-appear on Monday 5 August 2013.
