A teenage boy has been treated in hospital after an armed robbery at a fast-food restaurant in Sydney’s west.
About 8.45pm yesterday (Sunday 4 August 2013), a man carrying a silver handgun entered the restaurant on Sherwood Road, Merrylands.

Police were told the man pushed past the front counter, hitting a 16-year-old female cashier in the head as she crouched on the floor.

In the kitchen, the man struck a 15-year-old boy in the back of the head, causing a cut.

The man then grabbed 24-year-old female store manager by the neck and forced her head into a wall.

It’s alleged the man ordered the manager to open the safe. He then left the store with an amount of cash and a handbag.

Police and other emergency services attended the premises.

The 15-year-old boy was taken by ambulance to Westmead Hospital for treatment of his cut. No-one else was injured during the incident.

Police established a crime scene and searched the area, but did not locate the man.

Detectives from Holroyd Local Area Command are continuing investigations into the robbery, and would like to speak with a man who may be able to assist with their inquiries.

He is described as being of Mediterranean/Middle Eastern appearance, 160 to 170cm tall, with a slim, athletic build.  At the time of the incident, the man was wearing a red hooded jumper, dark track pants and runners.
