Police are appealing for public assistance following an armed robbery at a bottle store in Broken Hill overnight.

About 8pm (Wednesday 15 August 2013), a man armed with a bat entered a store on Comstock Street.

He approached the 59-year-old male employee and demanded cash, the attendant complied.

The man took an amount of cash and bottles of spirits, before leaving the premise on foot.

The attendant was not injured during the incident.

Police from Barrier Local Area Command attended, commenced an investigation and established a crime scene.

Detectives are continuing to investigate and would now like to speak to a man who may be able to assist with their inquiries.

He is described as being of Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander appearance, about 170cm tall and at the time was wearing dark clothing and a balaclava.
