Robbery and Serious Crime Squad detectives have arrested and charged three men following an armed robbery at a North Parramatta supermarket last night.
Strike Force Cary was established by the Robbery and Serious Crime Squad in July this year to investigate a number of armed robberies in the Sydney metropolitan area.
Detectives were advised that just after 6pm yesterday (Wednesday 28 August), two men armed with firearms attended a supermarket at North Parramatta and threatened staff.
They escaped with a sum of cash into a vehicle driven by a third man which immediately left the scene.
Just after 7pm, Robbery and Serious Crime Squad detectives assisted by the Tactical Operations Unit arrested a 20-year-old man at Crimea Street, Parramatta.
A second man, aged 18, was arrested at a unit on James Ruse Drive, Rosehill, about 1am (Thursday 29 August 2013), with a third man, aged 19, arrested at Parramatta Railway Station about 11am.
Detectives also seized a bag believed to be linked to the robbery and containing an air rifle, a hammer, a knife and other items
All three men were charged with robbery whilst armed with a dangerous weapon, relating to the North Parramatta supermarket robbery.
The 18-year-old man was additionally charged with four counts of robbery whist armed with a dangerous weapon, relating to robberies at a hotel in Auburn in June, and at stores and a hotel in Berala, Lalor Park and Rosehill in August.
All three were refused bail with the 18-year-old man to appear at Fairfield Local Court today, and the 19 and 20 year olds to appear at Parramatta Local Court today.
