Police are searching for a man following an incident at a convenience store on Mary Street at Blackstone.

About 6am this morning a man entered the store and placed several items on the counter before briefly leaving the store.

When the man returned to the store, he jumped the counter when the 77-year-old female employee opened the cash register and pushed her out of the way.

The man removed a sum of cash before fleeing the store in a white 4WD.

There were no injuries.

The man is described as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander, about 175cm tall with a solid build. He was wearing grey chequered shorts, a dark hooded jumper with white, slip on shoes.
