Police are investigating an armed robbery that occurred in a supermarket on the south coast last night.

About 7pm (Monday 10 September, 2013), two men, one armed with a bolt action rifle, entered a supermarket on Lyndhurst Drive.

At the time, five staff members, and one customer, where inside the store and were threatened with the firearm while demands were made for money.

The store manager was hit to the back of his neck with the butt of the firearm as he opened his till. All three cash draws were taken along with the contents of the safe and two handbags belonging to a staff member and the customer.

The store manager did not require treatment to his neck, and fortunately there were no serious injuries.

The two men were seen getting into a dark coloured station wagon as they left the store.

The man with the rifle was wearing a red ‘hoodie’ and white gloves, while the description given for the second man was only that he was wearing a hooded top. Both men were wearing balaclavas.

Police from Shoalhaven Local Area Command are investigating the robbery and are keen to speak with anyone who may have information.
