Elizabeth Police have arrested one man and are making inquiries to locate a second man involved in the attempted robbery of a Smithfield service station overnight.
At about 2.30am, the two young men entered the service station and caused a disturbance.
One of the men then allegedly picked up a chair and threatened staff, demanding money. His demands were refused and he threw the chair, smashing the glass screen. The two men then left. No one was injured during the incident.
Police patrols attended and searched the area, locating one of the young men nearby.
The 19-year-old from Elizabeth Vale was arrested and charged with attempted aggravated robbery.
He was refused police bail and will appear in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court today.
The second suspect is still outstanding and police are making further inquiries to try to locate him.
